August 2013 Outstanding Sponsor   Christina Stainbrook joined Scentsy two years ago after sampling one of our most-loved fragrances.   “I saw someone at a fair selling it and bought a Taro Plug-In and a bar of Festival of Trees (now Winter Pine). I was hooked! I signed up under a friend and was the easiest recruit ever. Scentsy? Sure, sign me up! We were both very new so I trained myself using the Training Center and after she left, I just kept using Scentsy’s awesome resources to train myself before I was ‘adopted’ by an amazing Director named Jackie Jones! She has mentored me selflessly and helped guide me to being a Director – she’s been an amazing example and an incredible friend.”   A serial hobbyist, Christina had tried other businesses that never panned out.   “I tried to make extra money by crafting and wholesaling baby items. Too much overhead! When my friend signed up for Scentsy, I saw it as my way out. I was working 60-80 hours a week and had a 1-year-old that I had seen an average of an hour a day for the entire first year of his life. I desperately wanted to be a stay-at-home mom and thought if I could make some extra money doing this, I could cut down my hours at work and still help support my family.”   Christina achieved her goal of working from home in Feb. 2013.   “I’m so proud to say I get to wake up every single morning and work for myself. I get to spend every waking moment with my son and be a supportive wife to my husband. It was a huge risk, but I knew it was where God was leading me and He has provided endlessly – even during the tough times! My new goal is to be able to work my husband out of a job. He works third shift in a dead-end job and I cannot wait for the day when I get to tell him he can quit his job!”   It came as a happy surprise when Christina learned Scentsy is more about family than competition.   “Others who sell Scentsy constantly encourage me and I am motivated by the amazing people I’ve met along the way. From the outside, I assumed it was one big competition with the people you sold with, and that’s not the case with Scentsy. I was expecting to be very alone and I’ve never once been truly alone. Even without a traditional upline, I’ve never felt the absence of support. Everything I’ve ever needed to grow my business has always been within reach.”   Seeing other people work through their insecurities and overcome obstacles is Christina’s favorite thing about building a team.   “I love seeing people coming into it with a huge goal and reaching it! It’s a really cool thing when someone came into Scentsy with a lot of self-doubt and fear, then transforms and becomes the person who encourages others in our group to keep their heads up and keep going. Complete transformation!”   Christina has become more confident and comfortable with herself through her Scentsy business.   “I have a lot of social anxiety, and while that hasn’t gone away, it’s lessened through practice and persistence at parties. I’m so much more comfortable in my own skin. My love language has always been ‘words of encouragement’ and I’ve never in my life felt so loved. I’m constantly given feedback and encouraging words – unprovoked – by the people in my downline, the people in my ‘next-to-me-line,’ and people nowhere near my line. We Scentsy people just can’t help it! It’s kind of silly, but I always felt like I had to fish for compliments, or do something uncharacteristic for them and with Scentsy I get to be my very true self.”   The best thing about selling Scentsy for Christina is the Scentsy Fragrance ‘potpourri’ of her tester carrier.   “Is that a little silly? The smell of all of those testers reminds me of the moment I opened up my Starter Kit, it’s strongly associated with that excitement and the amazing things I’ve been able to do thanks to Scentsy. Every time I get to a party and unzip that carrier, I’m stoked to share my story with everyone in the room because I’m instantly reminded that because of that smell, I get to stay at home and raise my own kid!”   The best advice Christina has is to put forth positivity!   “You get back what you put out there. I used to be fairly negative and a bit of a complainer. When I watched people who are or were where I’d like to be in my business, the first thing I always noticed was how positive they were. It was tough, but the second I decided I would change my attitude was the second everything changed. Even under pressure or when facing a tough situation, you’re the one who gets to choose how you’ll react and what you’re going to do about it. I will always choose to keep my head up, to keep moving forward, no matter how many obstacles I come across. The more positive energy you put out there, the more blessings you will receive in return. The people you attract in your life and your business will always be a reflection of you.
